Christine Balza, a Bay area artist.  Her beauty, strength, and authentic heart shines through her artwork. Like many amazing Filipina warrior women that have come before her... her heart is in heritage and her sword is in her art. ~ J.N.

Passionate about my husband, four beautiful children, and handcrafting pieces of art.  My inspiration comes from experiencing a balanced life, along with colorful and vivid memories of the Philippines.

I am a Filipina-American , born in Florida, and raised a Military Brat where I moved around ever 2-3 years of my early life.  Fortunately, I was able to live in the Philippines for 9 years. Coming to the Bay Area at 12 years old.

I yearn to get in touch with my heritage, although, I embrace my Fil-Am culture and appreciate the balance of blending traditions from the Islands and living in the States.  I understand Tagalog very well, but I can no longer speak fluently. I know enough Tanglish to embarrass myself or I use my memorized phrases to impress any Lola.

I have been actively working with Ceramics for three years .  Fascinated with mud since I was a child and taking my first ceramics class in Junior High.  Silver and Glass are natural additions to owning a kiln.

I give my undying gratitude to all those people who's support and encourage me to send my work out into the world.  My heart filled thanks to my love, Erwin and the Kids.  To my BFF Jheng:  My muse, salamat sa pang mamahal!

Suku, New Sun Artistry since 2007

The word "suku" means, "the end of something / termination"  or "time and place"

Suku ~ Kapampangan Sun Goddess of Time and Space, maintaining the seasons and life cycles, ruling over daylight and representing the sun.  Keeping harmony and balance of nature and life by combating her sibling, Mayari ~ Moon God, at Mt. Arayat.

Suku, signifying a change in an era and Mayari, symbolizing a new beginning.
